Access to Treatment for COVID-19 is Expanding in Marin

If you have COVID-19, medicines can reduce your risk for severe illness. If you test positive and have any symptoms, ask your doctor about getting treatment with one of the available antiviral treatments. Treatment will be determined at the advice of a medical provider. Individuals that may qualify include:

There are several testing locations that can connect you with available treatments. Treatment is available to individuals who qualify, including those without insurance. Visit our COVID-19 Treatment webpage or the CDPH COVID-19 Treatment page for more information about COVID-19 treatment and a list of testing providers offering access to COVID-19 treatments.

Reminder: Microbusiness Grant Application Deadline Approaching

Marin County microbusinesses with fewer than five full-time employees may apply for $2,500 grants through a partnership dedicated to assisting the economy through the lingering COVID-19 pandemic. The support is in the form of tax-free grants. The funds must be used for payment of business debts, new equipment, costs from business interruptions, and other criteria listed on the program website.

Types of microbusinesses that may be eligible include artists and musicians, childcare providers, construction workers, food vendors, hair stylists, nail technicians, “handyman” providers, house cleaners, gardeners, and landscapers.

The Marin Microbusiness Grant Program is funded by the State of California’s Office of the Small Business Advocate, known as CalOSBA. The County of Marin, the Marin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and Dominican University of California are partnering on program oversight. Deadline to apply is June 30, 2022.

Pediatric Vaccines Underway

Since Wednesday, June 22, Marin County residents age 6 months to five years are finally gaining the protection of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is being offered in pediatric practices and dedicated vaccine clinics across Marin. There have been no adverse events in the first three days of the vaccine roll out, and over the coming week more clinics will be offering the vaccine to children to meet the demand. COVID-19 Testing: Frequent Testing Prevents Outbreaks

Testing remains an important tool in identifying and isolating infected individuals as soon as possible in order to prevent spread to others. If you are experiencing COVID-related symptoms, get tested as soon as possible. Or, if are you a close contact of someone who is COVID positive, follow Isolation and Quarantine guidance, monitor for symptoms, and Get a COVID-19 test 5 days after your exposure.

Where to get tested
Our testing webpage provides a list of all COVID-19 test providers in Marin. You can find details about types of tests offered, costs, insurance coverage, and even testing locations for people without insurance.

Get an at-home test
Visit COVIDtests.gov or call 1-800-275-8777 to request up to 8 free tests per household. Or, visit FindACovidTest.org for a list of online retailers. If you’ve tested positive with an at-home test, there is no need to confirm the result with a PCR test. Treat a positive as a positive, regardless of the type of test used, and remember to report your result with our self-test reporting form.

Data Correction

On June 17, 2022, the COVID-19 Status Update Data Update reported 250 deaths and a 0 change since the previous report. While the death count was correct, the “change since last status update” figure should have been 3. The online version of that report has been updated to reflect the correct figure.
